§ 6:421. Commercial establishments prohibited from dumping trash or garbage at certain trash and pick up stations.(Parish)

  • (a)

    It shall be unlawful and a violation of this section for any commercial establishment to dump trash or garbage at any of the trash and garbage pick up stations established in the parish by Parish Resolution 9705, adopted January 26, 1972.

    (b)

    A commercial establishment is defined as any person who is engaged in any type or kind of trade or business.

    (c)

    Any person violating the provisions of this section shall be guilty of a misdemeanor and upon conviction thereof shall be subject to a fine not to exceed five hundred dollars ($500.00) or imprisoned not more than six (6) months, or both, at the discretion of the court, and each day such violation is committed or permitted to continue shall constitute a separate offense and shall be punished as such hereunder.

    (d)

    Nothing herein shall prevent the city and parish and the department of public works from entering into a contract with a private contractor for the collection and disposal of garbage, trash, bulky waste and litter, when authorized to do so by the metropolitan council and the mayor-president of the parish and city.
