§ 11:202. Restrictions upon use of streets by certain vehicles.

  • (a)

    The department of public works is hereby authorized to determine and designate those heavily traveled streets upon which shall be prohibited the use of the roadway by motor-driven cycles, bicycles, horse-drawn vehicles, or other non-motorized traffic, and shall erect appropriate signs giving notice thereof.

    (b)

    When signs are so erected giving notice thereof, no person shall disobey the restrictions stated on such signs.

    (c)

    Where bicycle lanes and bicycle trails are marked by the department of public works, no motor-driven vehicle shall enter such a trail or lane except for the purpose of entering or leaving a driveway or intersecting street, and shall do so only when no bicycle rider is so close as to constitute a hazard.
