§ 6:380. Responsibility of department of public works in collection of garbage and trash.(City)

The department of public works is hereby authorized and directed to collect and dispose
of the garbage and trash at all residential houses and other premises in the city
except those places designated as commercial establishments as defined herein, and
to collect and dispose of garbage at all commercial establishments; however, nothing
herein shall prevent any individual or commercial establishment from contracting with
any collector if he so desires to have their garbage or trash picked up.
Nothing herein shall prevent the city and parish from entering into a contract or
contracts with a private contractor upon such terms and conditions as the city-parish
shall elect for the collection and disposal of garbage, trash, bulky waste and litter
upon approval of the mayor-president and metropolitan council.
