§ 14:309. Liability insurance for wild or exotic animals.

  • The owner or keeper shall present to the director of the animal control and rescue center proof that the owner or keeper has procured liability insurance in the amount of at least five hundred thousand dollars ($500,000.00), covering any damage or injury which may be caused by such animal during the twelve-month period for which licensing is sought, which policy shall contain a provision requiring the city-parish to be named as an additional insured and the city-parish shall be notified by the owner or keeper of any cancellation, termination or expiration of the liability insurance policy.
