§ 13:1010. Possession of alcoholic beverages at BREC parks and facilities prohibited.

  • (a)

    The possession of alcoholic beverages at parks, playgrounds, recreational areas and facilities owned and/or operated by the recreation and parks commission is hereby declared to be unlawful, except for publicly owned recreational facilities which are licensed for the sale and consumption of alcohol through the alcoholic beverage control office.

    In addition to the penalties prescribed for violations of this title, members of the police department, sheriff's deputies, or other authorized police personnel are authorized to immediately confiscate any alcoholic beverages found on any person at any of the public facilities designated in this section.

    (b)

    Whoever is found guilty of possession of alcoholic beverages at BREC parks and/or facilities as defined herein shall be fined not more than five hundred dollars ($500.00), imprisoned in the jail for not more than six (6) months, or both.
