§ 12:356. Contracts to out weeds; liability insurance.

  • After bids have been taken as provided in section 12:353, the department of public works is authorized to execute contracts with acceptable contractors who have bid according to specifications, under which contract or contracts and after due notice, individual lots and tracts will be cut, with all costs to be assessed to the property owner. The department of public works shall establish in such contracts reasonable charges for the cutting of individual lots and in addition to such charges may levy as an assessment against the property owner the amounts provided in section 12:353. All contractors shall carry liability insurance in amounts provided by the purchasing agent, shall own such equipment as may be required or necessary to properly carry out the contract and shall agree to hold the city-parish free and harmless from any claims arising out of the work performed. The contracts to be so executed shall be approved by the office of the parish attorney as to form.
