§ 5:95. Glass bulb type vaporizing liquid fire extinguishing device prohibited; exception; fire marshal may order removal.(Parish)

  • (a)

    The sale, use, installation or possession in the parish of any glass bulb type vaporizing liquid fire extinguishing device is prohibited, unless such device has had the prior approval of the state fire marshal and the chief of the bureau of fire prevention. The state fire marshal is hereby authorized to order the immediate removal of any such unapproved device found in any building or structure.

    (b)

    Prior to approval of any such device, the state fire marshal and the chief of the bureau of fire prevention shall first determine that the device is safely designated and constructed, is installed in such a manner that it does not constitute a hazard to human life, and that there is a sufficient number of qualified persons on duty or residing in the building or structure to safely operate the device. The approval of the state fire marshal shall be in writing and shall be conspicuously affixed to the device itself. All such devices shall be regularly inspected after approval, and if the approval should be revoked or cancelled, all such devices shall be immediately removed upon the order of the state fire marshal.

    (c)

    Any person who violates any provision of this part, or who fails to obey any lawful order issued by the state fire marshal under this part, shall be deemed guilty of a misdemeanor.
