§ 5:31. Permit required for fire.(Parish)
(a)
Except as provided in subsection (b) hereof, no person shall start, kindle or maintain any fire to burn stumps, logs, trees or other materials in order to clear land within the parish outside of the corporate limits of any municipality thereof and within one thousand (1,000) feet of any approved, recognized or established subdivision without a valid permit or other proper authorization.
(b)
The department of public works is authorized to burn vegetation resulting from the maintenance of drainage channels within the parish, except within the St. George Fire Protection District, without obtaining a permit as required by subsection (a) hereof.
