Chapter 10. CENTRAL FIRE PROTECTION DISTRICT NO. 4 |
§ 5:1001. Creation of commission.
Pursuant to the authority granted under Article VI, Sections 15 and 19 of the Louisiana Constitution of 1974, and pursuant to R.S. 33:1415 and 40:1391—1506 there is hereby created and established the board of commissioners ("board") for Central Fire Protection District No. 4 ("district") which district was created in the Parish of East Baton Rouge by Parish Resolution 12991, adopted December 22, 1976.
(a)
The board shall be composed of five (5) members;
(1)
Two (2) members of the board shall be appointed by the Metropolitan Council;
(2)
Two (2) members of the board shall be appointed by the governing authority of the City of Central;
(3)
One (1) member shall be selected by the other four (4) members and shall serve as chairman of the board;
(b)
Each member of the board shall be a resident property taxpayer of the district;
(c)
Two (2) of the initial members of the board shall hold office until one (1) year from the January 1 immediately succeeding their appointment and three (3) members shall hold office until two (2) years from the January 1 immediately succeeding their appointment, the respective terms to be determined by lot. Thereafter, each member appointed shall serve for a term of two (2) years. Members are eligible for reappointment.
