A member shall receive service credit based on actual time worked for which both member
and employer contributions have been made. Periods of leave without pay are not included
in service credit unless authorized by the board of trustees, and provided that both
member and employer contributions have been remitted to the system. In no case shall
more than one (1) year of service be creditable for all service in one (1) calendar
year. A member may also receive service credit under section 1:261, 1:262, or 1:263.
