§ 10:408. Inspection of ambulances.

  • (a)

    The private provider shall furnish the department of EMS, yearly during the month of January, a notarized certified statement that the vehicles it operates in the parish are in sound mechanical condition and meet all national, state and local requirements to provide Advance Life Support or Basic Life Support, as required. The private provider shall pay a fee of ten dollars ($10.00) per vehicle per year, payable during the month of January, to the city-parish. A late fee of twenty dollars ($20.00) will be assessed for fee payments after January. City-parish EMS may spot check any vehicle for compliance with the above.

    (b)

    Any provider that fails to meet the certification requirements may be subject to the following:

    (1)

    Cancellation of the permit of the private provider to operate all emergency vehicles in the parish.

    (2)

    Imposition of the maximum fine allowed in the parish by state law.

    (3)

    Prohibition of operators of vehicles from providing emergency medical services in the parish for up to one (1) year.

    (c)

    The parish attorney or his/her designee shall determine the appropriate action for any violation.
