§ 10:251. License required.

  • (a)

    No person shall operate a motor vehicle or pedicab for hire upon the streets of the city or parish, and no person who owns, leases or controls a taxicab shall permit it to be so driven, and no taxicab for which a certificate of convenience and necessity has been issued by the city shall be driven at any time for hire, unless the driver of the taxicab shall have in his possession a valid chauffeur's license issued under the provisions of this chapter.

    (b)

    Application for a chauffeur's license shall be made to the chief of police upon forms prescribed by him. The chief of police is hereby given authority to promulgate such reasonable rules and regulations as may be necessary to enforce the provisions of this chapter.

    (c)

    Any cab operator at Metro Airport shall have an airport pictured ID attached to the operators' shirt or blouse at all times.
